C# Next Steps

ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, testing and interview practice.

Build real applications

  • ASP.NET Core minimal APIs — a web API in a few lines:
var builder = WebApplication.CreateBuilder(args);
var app = builder.Build();
app.MapGet("/todos/{id}", (int id) => new { id, title = "Learn C#" });
app.Run();
  • Entity Framework Core — map classes to database tables and query with LINQ. Brush up with the SQL tutorial.
  • xUnit or NUnit for tests, Moq or NSubstitute for test doubles.
  • Unity if you want to make games.

Practise

Solve problems with C# thinking: Two Sum, LRU Cache, Merge Intervals, and review API design interview questions.

Example 1
string[] learned = ["syntax", "OOP", "records", "generics", "LINQ", "async/await"];
for (int i = 0; i < learned.Length; i++)
    Console.WriteLine($"{i + 1}. {learned[i]} ✓");
Console.WriteLine("Next: build an ASP.NET Core API!");

Output

1. syntax ✓
2. OOP ✓
3. records ✓
4. generics ✓
5. LINQ ✓
6. async/await ✓
Next: build an ASP.NET Core API!

Run this on your computer — see “Get Started” for setup.
